Trio of herring for lunch or as tapas

Deepblue herring fillet chunks in mustard sauce, tomato sauce and pepper sauce

Serve your guests something different next time. A surprising variety of tastes.

Herring pepper sauce sandwich

Cut thin slices of French bread and spread them with fresh cream cheese. Cut thin slices of apple and place these them on top of the cream cheese. Then, place a few pieces of herring in pepper sauce on top of the apple and add, according to your own preference, some coarse ground pepper. Finally, sprinkle some finely cut chive and garden cress on top.

Herring mustard sauce sandwich

Cut thin slices of French bread and spread them lightly with mustard. Place a few pieces of herring on top. Optionally, add some coarse ground pepper, and finish with some finely cut garden cress.

Herring tomato sauce sandwich

Cut thin slices of French bread and spread them with fresh cream cheese. Place a few pieces of herring in tomato sauce on top and, optionally, add some coarse ground pepper. Finish with some finely cut basil, a few capers and a few slices of cherry tomato.

Serve all varieties mixed on a plank or plate.

  • White French bread and /or rye bread
  • Whole grain mustard
  • Garden cress
  • Fresh cream cheese
  • Capers
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Basil
  • Chives
  • Apple (preferably Granny Smith)
